Nighttime eating has always been a big downfall for me.
Working in a restaurant often means you don't get to eat until you get off the clock, which for me can be anywhere from 9:30-11:30 at night..
And then even though I'm no longer hungry when I get home from work, I inevitably always want to snack or have something sweet.
Some days it's just a little, some days it's way too much.
I guess I am using this late-night snacking as a way to wind down, to somehow sooth myself.
So for Lent, I decided to give up eating past 9pm.
Three days in, and so far, so good.
I hope this will help me form a permanant good habit.
And there are far better ways to wind down at the end of the night!
Reading, watching a little tv, spending time with my husband...all good things.
And how about just getting more sleep?
I actually tried that last night.
Instead of staying up watching tv and snacking until 2 a.m. (and then having to wake up at 7 to go to spin class, then off to work again), I snuggled with my husband, and was sleeping by 12:30.
At the last minute on Ash Wednesday, I added some other things to my Lent list.
I gave up eating the croutons and bread at work.
They are both sitting right in our server station in the kitchen, and we tend to snack on them all day and all night.
Especially the croutons!
They are homemade, buttery, and delicious.
And so easy to pop a couple in the mouth as you walk by.
Over and over again.
That's been difficult, but I've managed!
And cookies.
I gave up cookies.
Did I mention I have two Girl Scouts in the house, and cookies are delivered this week?
I think it was a smart move.
